Coal Chute

Home Up Mission Statement The Budde System Engineering Services News History Brochure Contacts

Budde Sheet Metal Works, Inc. was contracted to reverse engineer and fabricate three coal chutes for the Wright Patterson Air Force Base's power plant, located in Dayton Ohio. These chutes were 25 years old and no blueprints existed. Using the old chutes (that were in pieces from removal) Budde's CAD designers were able to model all the needed parts and prove the assembly in Solid Edge's 3D solid modeling CAD program before fabrication commenced. This was a very important factor since the chutes were fabricated from a special type of stainless steel that (at the time) cost $1,000 a sheet. There were 44 sheets needed to fabricate the three coal chutes. Thanks to Solid Edge and Budde's skilled employee's we were able to fabricate this very complicated project right the first time and cheaper than any of our competition.
